What I'm learning so far
There are many lessons learned over this almost year of creating and starting Worthy. Here are some:
- Being a small business owner sounds fun and exciting, but it's really hard work. There's a lot of sacrificing your time and energy to build your business. Don't get me wrong, it's totally worth it, but it's truly a labor of love.
- Don't under sell yourself. If you believe that what you're bringing to the world is quality, then treat it like it is. It's ok to ask what you think your product and services are worth. Value yourself and your talents.
- You can't please everyone. As much as I want to make every single customer happy, sometimes, I just have to understand that my style may not be for everyone. Which leads me to...
- Know who you are and stick with it. Instead of trying to consider the personal styles of every potential shopper, I'm trying to remain true to what I think is fashionable and on trend for women. I want to represent my style and hope that others love it, but if not, that's ok too. I've found more joy in being genuinely myself with my business than trying to shape into something that is purely commercially-minded.
- There are still good people in the world. Over the past year, I have overwhelmingly met some wonderful people through Worthy. My wonderful shoppers, models and co-vendors have become new friends that I absolutely love and adore.
